Ramiro was born to Andres Solis and Guadalupe Gonzalez on May 11, 1927, in Robstown, Texas. He met and married the love of his life Angie Arce, in 1947. They were happily married for 54 years. Together they raised seven children, in Houston, Texas.
He is survived by his children; Jay Solis (Graciela), Arturo Solis (Alma), Maricella Solis, Dora Solis-Santillan (Robert). Luis A. Solis (Rachel). Andrew Solis (Theresa). Two sisters, Martha Trevino and Emma Marinez and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, as well as by many beloved friends, whom he considered family.
He was preceded in death by Angie Arce Solis (wife), Ramiro Solis, Jr. (son).
After retirement, Ramiro enjoyed tending to his garden and planting vegetables, which he would later distribute to his neighbors and friends, he also found joy in growing plants and trees, to gift friends and family, never forgetting his life as a boy, growing up in his father’s working farm.
He was an avid fan of baseball and a passionate fan of professional boxing, but his true passion was spending time with family and friends, always ready with a good joke to make others laugh. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, humor, and strength in the face of adversity.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, December 22 from 5-9 pm with a religious service at 7:00pm in The Grand Chapel
A Committal Service is scheduled for Saturday December 23, at 10:00am at the Chapel of Angels. A reception will follow at The Reception Room in the Magnolia Suite, Main Funeral Home, from 12-2 pm. Reverend Luis Duarte will officiate the ceremony.
The family would also like to thank Dr. Jade Zhou and her amazing staff at Kelsey-Seybold: You made a difficult time a little easier, through your kindness and compassion. We also thank all his friends who never left his side and visited with him while he battled cancer. We are most grateful for every prayer, every word of encouragement, every meal sent, and every hug given.
