Rachel Reynold, age 98 of Tomball Texas took wings and joined the angels in heaven on December 4, 2023. She was born on October 8, 1925, in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico to Pilar Ruiz and Esther Rodriguez, their only child.
The family moved to Houston Texas in 1937. Pilar owned and operated “La Rose Bakery” on North Buffalo. Rachel helped her parents at the bakery. She attended Annunciation Catholic Church and School and completed the 6th grade.
Rachel met Pete Lecourias in 1948 where they worked in a furniture store off Hwy 59 in Houston. They married on January 14, 1951, at Annunciation Catholic Church. She received her US Naturalization certificate in 1954. Rachel and Pete have 5 lovely children, 1 daughter and 4 sons, Patricia, Michael, Gary, Gregory and Nick, and they were married for 21 years.
While raising their family, Rachel worked as a meat wrapper at Rice, A&P, and Weingarten’s supermarkets for a total of 15 years. She enjoyed cooking breakfast on Sunday mornings before church . Always had plenty of gravy, homemade buttermilk biscuits and fresh eggs. Rachel was a dedicated christian, she loved the Lord and made certain her children had a personal relationship with the Lord.
In 1977 Rachel married Thomas (Tommy) Reynolds at Berean Baptist Church. Together they owned North Shepherd Meat Market and Ben's Meat Market both located on North Shepherd in Houston Texas. They loved family get together and holidays when the whole family would spend time with each other. There was never enough of her cornbread dressing at Thanksgiving. Tommy went to be with the Lord in 1987, Rachel continued to operate their meat market for several years.
Rachel belonged to Champion Forest Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed the lady’s bible study and once a month luncheons. Rachel also loved to garden and had a special “Green Thumb”. If there was not space to plant in the garden then they went in a pot, she had lots and lots of plants.
Rachel loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, enjoyed taking their shoes and socks off and kissing their feet– she called them “stinky feet”.
Rachel is preceded in death by her parents Esther and Pilar Ruiz, husbands Pete Lecourias and Thomas Reynolds.
She is survived by her daughter Patricia Wheat and Ed Shaw of Magnolia Texas, sons; Michael Lecourias and wife Sandra of Onalaska Texas, Gary Lecourias of Deer Park Texas, Greg Lecourias and wife Tammy of Baytown Texas and Nick Lecourias and wife Yolanda of Cypress Texas. She had 14 wonderful grandchildren: Rachel, Josh, Robby, Chris, Justin, Nicholas, Celeste, Jennifer, Ashley, Melissa, Trish, Gregory, Nicholas, and Shandra and 27 great-grandchildren.
Rachel will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
A visitation for Rachel will be held Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will occur Monday, December 18, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A committal service will occur Monday, December 18, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Brookside Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Fwy, Houston, TX 77039.
Serving as pallbearers are Mike Lecourias, Gary Lecourias, Greg Lecourias, Nick Lecourias, Justin Lecourias, Gage Lecourias, Josh Wheat and Micah Lecourias.
