Rachel Minerva Delgado Garza, was born on February 13, 1939 in Victoria, Texas to the late Daniel Garcia Delgado and Esperanza Luna Delgado. On Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the age of 76, she entered into eternal life in her home in Houston, Texas, after an extended illness.
She was a 1958 graduate of Victoria High School and a 1964 graduate of Victoria College where she studied Nursing. Rachel worked at Citizens Memorial Hospital in Victoria, Texas as an LVN Surgical Nurse, and as an ER Nurse throughout the Houston Area. She retired in 2004 from Herrera Elementary as an Attendance Clerk and a Substitute School Nurse. She was a Missionary, Vice President of WMU (Woman’s Missionary Union) for most of the 80’s and a devoted Christian of the Baptist Faith. Rachel married Roberto Rene’ Garza on December 19th 1965 in Victoria, Texas at El Macias Methodist Church.
As a resident of Houston and loving wife to her husband Roberto Rene’ Garza for 49 years, she leaves 3 daughters, Esperanza Hortencia Guzman and Husband Chris of Pasadena, TX, Esmeralda Garza of Spring, TX, Celita Garza of Houston, TX and born from the heart son, Joshua Hernandez and Wife, Emily Joe, also of Houston, TX. 11 Grandchildren: Chris L. G. Jr, Ashley Ann, Christen Nicole and Christian Rene Guzman, Johnathan Daniel Garza – Torres, Daniella RL, and Natalie Rae Torres. Rebecca Dominique Garza, Joshua Anthony Jr. and Alijah Gabriel Hernandez and 3 great grandchildren, Berlin Guzman Rojas, Desiree’ and Aleah Cuellar. 1 sister, Esperance Delgado Montez of Wharton, TX and Nephew, Fernando F. Montes and Wife, Charlie of Brazoria.
Preceded in Death by: Parents, Daniel Garcia Delgado and Esperanza Luna Delgado, infant brothers, Daniel Jr, and Carlos Delgado, and nieces Esmeralda Montes and Zoey Savanna Montes.
Cremation Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 7th at 1PM at American Heritage Funeral Home. Reverend Carlos Tovar Officiating.
Family would like for you to join them for a meal after the service at 3:00pm at Rittenhouse Baptist Church, located on Hwy 45 between Parker and Little York on Rittenhouse Road.
