Porfirio Luna Tovar

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we commemorate the life of Porfirio "Pilo" Tovar, who peacefully passed on January 1st, 2024, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 77. Born on September 15, 1946, in Saltillo, Nuevo León, Mexico, to Leonardo and Falicitas Tovar, Pilo's journey was marked by a determined spirit, a loving heart, and a generous soul that touched all corners of his community.

Pilo's early years in the bustling streets of Monterrey, Mexico, were filled with joy and ambition. At 32, seeking a brighter horizon, he embraced a new beginning in Houston, Texas, where he nurtured a life rich in love and legacy. Known for his boundless warmth and ready smile, Pilo became a cornerstone of his neighborhood, spreading joy and generosity.

Though preceded in departure by his parents, Leonardo and Felicitas, and his older sister Cleotilde, Pilo's leaves behind a tapestry of memories. Pilo's spirit is cherished by his devoted wife Rosa and their beloved sons Alberto, Cesar, Edgar, Hector, and David. His laughter and wisdom continue to resonate through his 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, each a living testament to his profound love. His siblings Cresencio, Teresa, Leonardo Jr., Hector, Juanita, and Maria hold dear the strength and love he imparted.

We invite friends, family, and all whose lives were brightened by Pilo to join in celebrating his remarkable life. A viewing will be held at the Forest Park Grand Chapel on Wednesday, January 10th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will follow on Thursday, January 11th at 2 p.m., culminating with a graveside service at 3 p.m.

As we gather to reminisce and honor Pilo, let's embody the kindness and love he exemplified throughout his life. His legacy is not confined to the past but lives on through the warm acts of kindness we share, inspired by his enduring spirit.

A funeral service will occur from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM with burial immediately following Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM . Both services being held at Forest Park Lawndale.
