He was born in Houston, Texas on November 14, 1936 and graduated from Reagan High School.
He was married to Juanita Medina until her death in 2002.
He is survived by his children Pati Villarreal and Michael Medina.
His grandchildren – Andrew Villarreal (wife Brenda), Aaron Villarreal (wife Lesley), Vanessa Enrriques (husband Al), Adam Timmons, Julia Timmons, Ricky Medina Jr., Tomas Medina, Illiana Medina, Jacob Medina, Charles Medina Jr., daughter-in-law Melody Medina, 19 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, his brother Arthur Medina, nieces Tammy Bray and Kelly Perez, and cousin Emily Salazar.
He is preceded in death by his children Jacki Medina Timmons, Charles Medina, Richard Medina, his brother Ernest Medina, and his father Phillip Medina Sr. and mother Guadalupe Medina
