Pete was born to Pete and Matilde Bertrand, September 7, 1952, in Houston, Texas. He graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1970 and served honorably in the U.S. Navy. He married Laura Fernandez in 1975, and they had two beautiful children, Bianca Marie and Pete Anthony.
Pete is survived by his children, Bianca and Pete Anthony (Yoselin). He also leaves to cherish his memory his grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Eric Bertrand and Isabella Marie Lira.
He was preceded in death by Pete Bertrand (father), Matilde Bertrand (mother), Alan Bertrand (brother), and Linda Vasquez (sister).
Pete worked as an Inspector for Alloy Carbide Co. for 28 years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, listening to oldies and Tejano music.
Pete was dedicated to volunteering for veterans causes and serving the East End community of Magnolia. He held many offices in the American Legion, Houston, Texas as Commander of American Legion Harrisburg Post 472 and American Legion 22nd District for over 20 years. Pete was instrumental in building the current Post after a fire destroyed it completely. He was a member of the Harrisburg Post 472 Color Guard and along with his group won over 10 National Color Guard honors.
Visitation will be Friday November 3, 2023 starting at 4:00 p.m. with a celebration of life and presentation of symbols at 7:00 p.m.
A military burial conducted by the American Legion Harrisburg 472 Honor Guard is scheduled for Saturday, November 4, 2023, 2 p.m. at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale Houston, Texas 77023.
The family would like to thank those who supported Pete and the Houston Hospice nurses, our angels on earth, who through this difficult time provided him with care and dignity.
