He is preceded in death by his parents, Pedro Sr. and Margarita Garcia; his four brothers, Ernesto, Daniel, Ricardo, and Willie Garcia; his son, Pedro Arevalo Garcia; and grandson, Joseph Israel Mata.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years, Maria Amparo Arevalo Garcia; daughters, Azucena Montgomery and husband, Tony; Esmeralda Estrada and husband, Rudy; Amy Margaret Garcia. His grandchildren: Brian Angel Petry and wife, Tralaya Felicite Jackson; Jasmine Nicole Gilliam; Nicholas Keith Petry; Nathan Raymond Petry; Jose Andres Rojas; and Kayla Marie Hailey Aguilar. Step grandchildren: Tonya, Ashley, Kristi, Valerie and Bailey. He also leaves his great grandchildren: Tracie Jaxon Petry and Nyla Estella Gilliam. Step great grandchildren: Treaylon, David, Travis, Vladimir, Amarie, Georgie, Kimberly, Kennedi, Jada, and Jianna. Especially his loving sister, Celia Garcia Kimball and her husband, Murry. Also, all his extended family.
Pedro was born in Gregory, Texas on August 8, 1944. He was an ASE Certified Technician with a home-based business and had a degree in Agriculture. He enjoyed going to the beach with his family on the holidays and going to family gatherings back in the days. He loved watching the Houston Astros and the Houston Texans...never missed a game. He was a real jokester and had many stories to tell. For instance, he was a cotton picker in his younger days. He was a man of all trades.
He loved wearing his Stacy Adams and going to the Baile (Dance). If you knew him, then you would know that he loved to dance. He also mastered the game of Dominos and Billiards.
After retirement, Pedro enjoyed gardening with his wife. He loved taking his wife to breakfast/lunch at his favorite restaurant, Rio Verde. He loved watching The Three Stooges and Western movies were his favorite. He lived a long and happy life.
A visitation for Pedro will be held Friday, December 1, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A rosary will occur Friday, December 1, 2023 from 7:00 PM to 7:45 PM, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A funeral service will occur Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A committal service will occur Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 3:45 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.
