Paula Loya passed away peacefully on July 13, 2020 surrounded by her children and loved ones. Paula was a woman of faith and practiced the teachings of Christ by her constant showing of love, compassion and forgiveness to others. She was a teacher, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was born in Namiquipa, Chihuahua, Mexico on July 30, 1935. She was an elementary teacher before joined in marriage to Ruben Loya on October 19, 1955. Together they proudly received their U.S. citizenship on April 15, 1977 and made their home in El Paso, Texas for 43 years. They were married for 36 years before she became widowed. She eventually moved to Waller, Texas in 2000 to be closer to her children.
She was a member of St. Katherine Drexel Catholic Church in Hempstead, Texas and served as a Lector for several years. Paula’s hands were rarely still and she loved to garden, sew, cook, drive her golf cart around the lake and beat everyone at Chinese Checkers. She loved to read, sing and dance whenever her favorite song was played. All whom loved her dearly will never forget her wit, charm, grace and sense of style. She was quick to smile and a gentle soul who cared deeply for her loved ones. She will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Loya and survived by her sons: Ruben and wife Sandra, Rafael and wife Laurie, Juan "Johnny", Eduardo and wife Elma and her daughters: Elizabeth and husband Jorge, Carmen, widowed, Lourdes and husband Ed, Guadalupe and husband Wade, Monica and husband Oscar, and many grandchildren. She is also survived by her younger brother Abelardo Aragones and his children. Together they will carry on her memory.
