Paul Edgar Smith, 88, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Kindred Bay area Hospital in Pasadena, Texas. Paul was born May 6, 1927 in Birmingham, Alabama to Grady E. Smith and Lettie Smith. Paul lived in most of the states in the eastern half of the country because of his father’s business. When he was a teenager his father started Standards Concrete Products in Houston.
Paul graduated from John H. Reagan High School in 1945.
Paul served in the United States Navy during WWII where he served proudly aboard the U.S.S West Virginia. After his service, Paul worked in his father’s business until he began his career in the welding supply.

Paul is survived by his wife Margaret F. Smith, daughters; Pamela Falson, Ann Shea Baker, Mary Shea, Peggie Ide, Mary Bordelon; sons; David Shea, Martin Shea, Brian Shea, and David DiStefano and by sister, Ruth V. Ruth and her husband Benny. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Advantage Howard Glendale Funeral Home, 1015 Federal Rd. Houston, Texas 77015. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Advantage Howard Glendale Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at 1:00 pm at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive Houston, Texas 77038.
