Patsy grew up in Graford and moved to Mineral Wells with her family when she was in the eighth grade. She attended Abilene Christian College. After returning to Mineral Wells, she met a handsome lieutenant stationed at Wolters Air Force Base. Six months later, on March 14, 1953, Patsy became Mrs. A. F. “Buck” Harvey.
After Buck’s discharge from active duty, Houston became their home for most of their marriage. Over the next 66 years, their lives were blessed with a home full of love, joy and laughter. Patsy gave birth to four adoring daughters, guiding their growth and development, bringing her more happiness than she could have ever imagined. After their daughters were raised, Buck and Patsy enjoyed traveling the world, including a 6 month stay in France.
Her grandchildren were the icing on the cake, and she delighted in spending hours playing, reading, and singing with her twelve grandchildren. She especially loved preparing for holidays and sleepovers where she created lasting memories her family will always cherish. Poppy was the name given to her by the beloved little boy she helped raise and the name endures to this day.
Patsy never met a stranger and as a result she created lasting friendships with numerous people. She was not shy in voicing her opinions and no one ever questioned her passion and love for God, her family, her church, the Texas Aggies, and the Houston Astros. One of her happiest moments was when her Houston Astros finally won the World Series in 2017.
A faithful member of the church of Christ, Patsy enjoyed worshiping at West University, Sharpstown (where they were charter members), Bellville, Hempstead, and Jersey Village. Patsy served as a Sunday school teacher, ladies Bible class leader, and VBS volunteer. She also supported Buck as he served as a deacon and an elder.
Her contagious laughter, glowing smile, and caring spirit will forever be etched in our hearts and minds.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Audry “Buck” Harvey, sister-in-law, Elinor Harvey, daughters, Nita Holland and husband Terry, Nancy Ruez and husband D. Bryan, Lynda Sloan, Lisa Pybus and husband Steven, twelve grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
