Where the loved ones long have been waiting, what a meeting indeed that will be!
Gathered home, gathered home, on the shore of that bright crystal sea,
Gathered home, gathered home, with our loved ones forever to be.
-Theodore Wood
Patricia Edith Park, the fourth and youngest child of Dr. James Howard Park, Jr. and Mrs. Edith Brownell Park, was born on the 3rd of November 1927 in Houston. She returned home to the Lord on Saturday, the 12th of June 2021, and gathered there in joyful reunion with her father and mother, sister Nancy Park Wheless, and brothers David Riggs Park and James Howard Park III.
Patty attended Lamar High School and graduated from the University of Texas, where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She had a lifelong love of animals and adventure. Her daughters grew up amongst a menagerie of dogs, cats, birds, and orphaned wildlife. One of her favorite places in the world was her farm outside Houston where she rode horses, raised cattle, and adopted the stray dogs that found their way to her porch steps. Patty enjoyed snow skiing, scuba diving, and collecting sea shells as a hobby. She traveled with family to the Caribbean, Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan, China, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Egypt, and India. In addition to raising her three daughters, ranching, and travelling, Patty was a dedicated volunteer for the Junior League of Houston and the River Oaks Garden Club. She was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
Patty is survived by her three beloved daughters with former spouse J. Victor Neuhaus, III: Nancy Neuhaus Bailey (Matt), Patricia Neuhaus Napoleon (Frank), and Alicia Brownell Neuhaus; grandchildren Guenevere Holden Snead (Jon), Alyssa Holden (Mike Lubicky), Glen Holden III (Chloe), Edith Napoleon (Adrian Segovia), Vera Napoleon, and Patricia Napoleon; and great-grandchildren Francis and Mercedes Segovia; Hazel, Violet, and Ruby Moskal; and Clyde Holden. She will be dearly missed by her extended family and many friends.
Whether devotedly cheering on her Astros, floating in the Guadalupe River, laughing with friends over Bridge or Mah-Jongg, ministering to needy animals, or showering her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with love, Patty always brought a zest for life and a heart full of kindness with her.
A celebration of her life is to be conducted at half-past one o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 26th of June, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where Rev. Michelle Manuel, Associate Director of Adult Ministries at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, is to officiate.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Patty’s honor be directed to The Brookwood Community, 1752 FM 1489, Brookshire, TX, 77423; or the charity of one’s choice.
