Patricia Rose Treybig Lindsay, age 80, of Conroe, Texas passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024. Patricia was born in Bay City, Texas on September 28, 1943 to the late Eldie and Telka (Klatt) Treybig. She is survived by her dear husband of nearly 55 years, Pat Lindsay; son John Lindsay (Christy); daughter Jennifer Hess (Marc); grandchildren Emily Lindsay, Freddie Hess, and Heidi Hess; sisters Yvonne Ballas and Carolyn Gashette; sister-in-law Patricia Phillips; and a host of special nieces and nephews on both sides, and “a whole slough” of friends as she never met a stranger. Patricia was preceded by her parents and in-laws; sisters Gloria Davis and Velma Ivy; three special brothers-in-law; one special nephew, and several of her very best friends.
Patricia was the 4th of five sisters with whom she shared an unbreakable bond of love and support. The family notably lived in El Campo, Texas for a good while near many Treybig and Klatt family members before settling in Houston's Montrose area where Patricia attended Lamar High School. Patricia met her beloved Pat soon after his tour in the Vietnam War and they married August 28, 1969. To support her husband's ambitious endeavor as a business owner, Patricia learned bookkeeping and remained heavily involved in the books and operations of their family owned and operated fiberglass fabrication company Glass-Steel, Inc. until her passing. She and son John made certain the company fleet stayed in tiptop shape.
Patricia enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies. She and her ever-devoted Pat, along with a host of dear friends, enjoyed the fun of square dancing for some years with Houston’s Texas Stars. Custom dancing dresses sewn by her talented mother-in-law in every color of the rainbow were paired with fluffy matching petticoats. She and Pat would often wear matching outfits, a favorite being Raggedy Ann and Andy for Halloween.
Patricia loved a good bargain and going antiquing; her eclectic collection kept her company among beautiful silk floral arrangements. She appreciated plants and flowers of all kinds so naturally she enjoyed planting and maintaining the home and office landscapes; picking up limbs or riding around on her Kubota in her younger years, then later directing her gardener about the properties. She loved to look out her windows and see the gardens with the flowers in bloom.
She took community classes in cake decorating, macrame, ceramics, and basket weaving (just to name a few), then would pass along her learnings to her daughter and they would spend hours and hours in the kitchen and craft room creating gifts for others. But Patricia's greatest passion was the game of tennis, which she shared with her husband, their two children and numerous friends. She began lessons in the 1970s and got more serious in the 1980s as a member of the Woodlands Athletic Center (WAC). A leisurely but strong player, Patricia actively recruited and captained dozens of women in a variety of leagues (USTA, Jackrabbit, North Country, etc.) in the Spring/Woodlands/Conroe area, being joined by her daughter in the 2010s as they played out of Candy Cane Park. Sadly, she was forced to retire in 2018 at the age of 75 after a heart attack followed by a major hip injury, but how she loved the game and all her tennis friends.
A visitation for Patricia will be held Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Earthman Resthaven, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060. A funeral service will occur Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060.
