Patricia was born in 1941 in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tracy, Sr. Pat graduated from Milby Senior High School in Houston, Texas, and attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock.
Pat was a devoted wife and mother who was determined to provide the most nurturing and caring environment for her family. She was a leader who possessed the heart of a servant. She served her community and her family through a variety of organizations. As her kids were growing up, she took leadership roles in Boy Scouts, Campfire Girls, Girl Scouts, Rainbow Girls, DeMolay, Aldine Band Boosters, Drill Team Boosters, PTA and PTO.
She was a former member of Durkee United Methodist Church in Houston, and most recently, a member of First United Methodist Church Conroe where she actively participated in the B.A.S.I.C. Sunday School Class. She lived out her Christian ideals through her charitable work. She was a fifty-six year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She served as Worthy Matron of Aldine Chapter 1088, Willis Chapter 1017 and Andral Vann Chapter 741. She served the Grand Chapter of Texas on a variety of committees and was the Grand Representative of Oregon in Texas from 2003-2006. Pat worked with the OES Handicraft Program at M.D. Anderson Hospital which provided handicraft kits with materials and instructions for patients and their caregivers. She served as chairman of the board for that organization from 1996-1997.
Pat loved the outdoors and spent many hours with her family camping, hunting, and supporting her husband Sam’s fast pitch softball career. She loved taking drives in the Texas Hill Country spotting deer and looking at bluebonnets.
Pat is survived by her husband Sam B. Cooper, Jr. and their children, Sam B. Cooper III and his wife Rita Beth; daughters Cherie Cooper, Desiree Daniel and Jaunetta Cooper; granddaughters Jessica and Brittany Daniel; brother Robert Leon Tracy, Jr.
A Celebration of Pat’s Life will be held at the First United Methodist Church Conroe on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at 2:00 p.m.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
