Patricia Jean Bruning, age 84, passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021, after a lingering battle with dementia. Patricia was born in Alliance, Nebraska on June 17, 1936, to Charles Edward Leibel and Nellie B. Robinson. Patricia is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Nellie Leibel, her brother Lynn and her sister Charnelle, as well as, her husband of 43 years Clement Carey Bruning and her daughter Darbie Lynn Bruning.
Patricia is survived by her son Robert Joseph Bruning of Killeen, Texas, as well as, her son Edward Gerald Bruning and daughter-in-law Jacqueline Bruning of Richmond, Texas, and her three granddaughters Samantha Jean Bruning of Houston, Texas, Jacqueline Lynn Williams and Tanya Renee Williams of Richmond, Texas, and her great grandson Ryan Cole Ferris of Richmond, Texas.
Patricia graduated from Alliance High School in 1953. Pat then attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska and graduated with a Nursing Degree in 1956. She met the love of her life in Omaha, where she and Clem were married on September 17, 1957. Together they built a family, and Pat became a full-time mom to their three children. The family followed Clem’s career as an Industrial Engineer to Minnesota and then to Texas. Pat worked as a school nurse and staff RN at several hospitals, and was always a wealth of medical knowledge and advice to all in need. Pat had a wide circle of family and friends whom she routinely communicated with. She loved animals, especially cats, and cared for and adopted several pets and strays over the years. Pat also found joy in attending church, spending time with her granddaughters, cleaning and organizing, and decorating her home for every holiday. She was an excellent cook who kept her best recipes in her head.
She will be deeply missed.
