Eddie Taylor III was born in Houston, Texas, to Eddie and Ethel Taylor on December 20, 1962. He was educated in schools in Fifth Ward, Texas, and graduated from Jefferson Davis High School.
He started working at the City of Houston Police Department, Fleet Management, building a strong relationship with police officers all around. He retired from the City of Houston Police Department after 27 years. A year later he couldn’t sit still and began working for Metropolitan Transit Authority as a Senior Mechanic/Paint and Body Technician, where he was repairing and painting Metro buses until his illness. He was slated to retire from Metro in January 2024 after 16 years. He was loved and admired by his peers because of his kindness and humbleness.
He accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. Throughout many cities and states, he sang with various City-Wide choirs and Male Chorus groups. On September 24, 1989, Eddie was ordained and received his certificate of license into The Gospel Ministry by Pastor G.T. Curry, Sr., Mount Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church. In 2006, Eddie became the Pastor of True Gospel M.B.C. After much PRAYER and stepping out on FAITH, Eddie formed True Faith and Praise M.B.C. Many souls and lives were saved through his counseling, teaching, and preaching for years. He furthered his education and received his Associate of Ministry Degree from Jacksonville Baptist Theological Seminary in 2010. Pastor Taylor believed that God could use anybody. If you prayed sincerely and wanted to change and better your lives, with God it could be done. He was loving and kind, and always tried to help his fellowman. He didn’t like foolishness and believed in doing anything for God, should be done Decent And In Order. He loved to sing and play his TAMBOURINE!!!! He loved people in general.
Eddie met the love of his life, Helen Perkins, and they were married for 35 years. She labored with him in Ministry and loved him through sickness and in health. Two handsome sons, Eddie Taylor IV and Denzel Marquis Taylor; and one beautiful daughter, Lisa Nicole Perkins; were raised into this loving union. His heart desires were his three granddaughters, Emi, ReRe, and Ivy!!!
*One of Eddie’s greatest sayings was: “I’m Just A Nobody, Trying To Tell Everybody, About Somebody, Who Can Save Anybody.”
As much as we loved Eddie, God loved him more. His beautiful life came to an end on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at the age of 60. He is now reunited with his father, Eddie Taylor, Jr.; his mother, Ethel Mae Taylor; and sister, Ola Mae Russell.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Helen Taylor; two sons, Eddie Taylor IV (Lupy) and Denzel Taylor (partner-Derrick); one daughter, Lisa Perkins (special friend-Jett); three granddaughters, Emariya Buie, Arielle Hall, Anaya Ivy Taylor; one niece, Gloria Peters; one God brother, Douglas Jones; and a very loving and devoted Godmother, Frankie Thompson.
