Ouida was born on November 30, 1931 in Port Arthur, Texas. She attended Milby High School in Houston, Texas, where she met her high school sweetheart and future husband, Jimmie Gardner. Ouida and Jimmie were married for 52 years. Together they had three children, Deborah Lee Boren, Terry Lynne Fehrle and James Troy Gardner. Ouida was a member of St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church in Houston. She worked at Dresser Industries for 10 years. Upon retiring Ouida found great joy in woodworking and attending craft shows with her husband Jimmie.
Ouida is preceeded in death by her husband, Jimmie Gardner; parents, Merle and Herman Elliot and brother, Maurice Elliot.
Ouida is survived by her sister, Teri Straughn; daughters, Debbie Boren and Terry Fehrle and son, Troy Gardner; five grandchildren, Kelly Ryan Boren, Koby Boren, Matt Fehrle, Patrick Fehrle, and Corey Davenport; two great-grandchildren, Calvin Fehrle and Charlotte Fehrle.
Pallbearers: Koby Boren, Matt Fehrle, Pat Fehrle, Corey Davenport, Pat Crawford and Jeremy Jemela.
A funeral service for Ouida will be held Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, in the Colonial Chapel, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A committal service will occur from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.
