Oralia Medrano, age 80, of Houston, Texas passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023. Oralia loved her family unconditionally. Oralia was independent, she raised 4 kids by herself after getting divorced. Oralia was a fighter, she worked very hard to provide for her kids. She loved to knit and sew and loved to cook, especially making Gorditas, tamales, nopalitos and chile rellenos. Her homemade tortillas were the best. Oralia enjoyed her coffee and working in her garden. She had a green thumb, she was able to just throw a seed on the ground and it would grow. She loved listening to Vicente Fernandez. She loved sitting outside especially when there were mariachis playing at the cemetery. Oralia adored her birds (her babies), enjoyed her Corona's and loved to dance.
Oralia is preceded in death by her parents Julian Alvarado and Guadalupe Flores Alvarado and her brothers Tomas Alvarado, Felix Alvarado, Juan Alvarado, Jose Alvarado and Jeno Alvarado.
Oralia is survived by her sons Luis Medrano and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Ann Medrano, Javier Medrano and daughter-in-law Rebecca Medrano, Martin Medrano Jr, and daughter-in-law Denise Marie Medrano, daughter Yesenia Medrano Arreola and son-in-law Robert Eugene Arreola and brother Antonio Alvarado.
Grandchildren Angelo John Amador and spouse Jessica Amador, Monica Ann Barnes and spouse Joseph Barnes, Stephanie Ann Medrano and spouse Anthony Soria, Julian Luis Medrano, Mia Elizabeth Medrano, Lauryn Rae Medrano, Javier Alexander Medrano, Melissa Marie Medrano and spouse Eric Gabriel Ruiz, Matthew Martin Medrano, Krystle Renee Morales and spouse Jesse Brandon Morales, Ashley Marie Navarro and spouse Johnny Angel Navarro, Michael Anthony Arreola and Asiah Alyce Medrano.
Great-Grandchildren Alexia Maria Amador, Angelo John Amador Jr., Gabriela Marie Amador, Jayda Jodie Ann Barnes, Joseph Jodie Barnes, Josiah Jett Barnes, Avery Nevayh Zapata, Christian James Ruiz, Madison Alexis Morales, Isabel Alaine Morales, Kaitlynn Renee Navarro, Daniel Jeremiah Navarro and Michael Ray Navarro.
A visitation for Oralia will be held Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 2516 Navigation Blvd., Houston, TX 77003. A chapel service will occur Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm, 2516 Navigation Blvd., Houston, TX 77003. A committal service will occur Friday, March 3, 2023 from 11:00 am to 11:30 am at Historic Hollywood Cemetery, 3506 N Main St, Houston, Texas 77009.
