Dementia. He was 85.
Ai was born on April 3rd, 1938, in Thua Thien Hue, Vietnam to father Do Huu Truyen and
mother Hoang Thi Yem. He attended the military academy “Vo bi Quoc gia” in Da Lat, Vietnam
and graduated in November of 1964 as a Second Lieutenant at the age of 26.
Ai and his family spent a good amount of time living very happily in Germany after he was
released from his imprisonment in Vietnam in 1980. He immigrated to the U.S.A in 1998 and
started a new chapter in Dallas, Texas. Ai loved to get together with his old friends from his
military time whenever there was an opportunity. He also loved to read and research the internet
in his spare time, although dementia has limited him from this activity more and more as he got
older.
