Ola Mae Nimmo Reeter, long time resident of Springfield, Missouri, was born August 22, 1923 in Centralia, Illinois . With her hand resting in ours, she gently stepped into her eternal life on May 14, 2012.
Parents Fred and Nora Nimmo of Centralia, Illinois raised Ola Mae in a faith filled home with her sister, Freda Mae. Throughout life, at home as a child to her 88th birthday, she shared her elegant high soprano voice with Christians everywhere. Nearest and dearest to her heart was the joy of making music in worship, praise and to encourage others.
Ola Mae received a Bachelor’s Degree from Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois and a Master’s Degree from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. She was a licensed professional counselor who loved helping others find hope in life. Ola Mae was instrumental in the design and administration of the first Half-Way House program at the Enid State School- Enid OK .
Ola Mae Nimmo was proudly married to Dale Victor Reeter for 50 years and their family consisted of three children. She was an avid Bible reader and prayer warrior. Ola created beautiful oil paintings. She enjoyed the garden club, singing in the choir, poetry writing, dressing up for “the occasion”, and cooking. She loved decorating her home and you were always welcomed in with a scrumptious dessert! Ola Mae was called “Mama” by folks far and near. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri.
She is survived by her sister, Freda Mae Greenwalt of Centralia, Illinois. Her children and their spouses: Robert and Jodi Reeter Schultz of Burton, Texas; Joel and Liisa Reeter of Springfield, Missouri and Jeff and Cindy Reeter of Houston, Texas. Ola Mae was very proud of her 5 grandchildren: Rachael Unger, Joshua Reeter, Chad Reeter, Ryan Reeter and Cody Reeter. She also had 4 great grandchildren: Sydney, Sierra, Trenton, and Skyler Unger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Victor Reeter.
Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 2:00PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2500 Old Highway 51 North, Sandoval, Illinois 62882.
