Norman W. McLeod passed away on August 15, 2015 in Houston, TX. He was born January 8, 1925 in San Diego, CA. He lived in New Orleans, LA until 1951 and moved to Houston where he resided until his passing, except for a few years on Tiki Island.
Norman was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Phillips. Helen and Norman were married in Moss Point, MS on September 4, 1948, which was the day a hurricane went through the area.
He is survived by daughter, Diane Packer and her husband Bob Packer of N. Myrtle Beach, SC; son, Gary McLeod and his husband James Maxwell of Sante Fe, NM; and sister, June Davis of Atlanta, GA.
During World War II, he served in the US Merchant Marine, Purser, Lt(jg).
Norman attended Texas Christian University of Ft. Worth, TX and graduated from Tulane University, New Orleans, LA in 1949 with a BBA. He was a Certified Public Accountant in Louisiana and Texas.
He was a former deacon at St. Charles Ave Christian Church in New Orleans, LA and in Houston a former deacon at Bethany Christian Church, Spring Branch Christian Church and Fair Haven Methodist Church.
Norman began employment with W. S. Bellows Construction Corporation in 1956 as the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He continued after retirement as an advisor to the Board of Directors. Active in the Associated General Contractors Association at all levels – National (Tax and Fiscal Affairs Committee), State (Chairman Insurance Committee) and Local (Trustee Laborers Health & Welfare Fund, Training Fund, Teamsters Health, Welfare and Pension Fund)
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 from 10 am to 12 noon and a funeral service at 12 noon at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. Private burial service. Reception will be hosted at Brookdale Memorial City, 11900 Barryknoll Ln, Houston, TX 77024 immediately following services.In lieu of flowers, please consider remembrance contributions to CIMA Hospice and Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
