Norman "Gerald" Colston

Norman “Gerald” Colston, age 83 of Houston, Texas. Passed away on December 20, 2023. He was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi on October 28, 1940 to parents, William Lee Colston and Ada Missouri Odom Colston.

Gerald graduated from Sam Houston High School and attended Sam Houston State University. He met Betty in Houston and married on January 15, 1960. Gerald had a career in auto parts at Pettigrew Smith for 40+ years.

Gerald had a great life with many great friends and family. He was an avid college and high school football follower. He traveled to many games over the years, especially to watch the games of family and friends. He loved watching golf, baseball and of course football. He loved road trips with his wife, especially those that ended up at casinos and his beloved dog Turbo.

He is preceded in death by his father, William Lee Colston; mother, Ada Missouri Odom Colston; wife, Betty Marie Colston; brothers, Robert (Bob), Doug, and James Colston; sisters, Helen, Lucille, Nell, and Maxine.

Gerald is survived by his daughters, Angie & husband Rick Patton, Rhonda & husband Mike Duggan; grandson, Ricky & wife Krista Patton; granddaughter, Rebecca & husband Robert Dodson; great-grandchildren, Brody, Gracie, Madilynn, Truette Patton and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Serving as Pallbearers are Rick Patton, Mike Duggan, Ricky Patton, Jr., Brody Patton, Robert Dodson, Dustin Gersch, and Ryan Gersch.

All services will be held at Brookside Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039, 281-449-6511. A visitation for Gerald will be held Friday, January 5, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A funeral service will occur Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 10:00 AM, with burial to follow.
