Norma Nicholson Bender

Born in Kirkland, Texas, Norma grew up in Rockdale, Texas, the second youngest of seven children and the last to survive. After high school, she married Billy Coffelt and gave birth to her only child, Patricia "Patti". Norma was always a career woman, working in Human Resources for multiple nonprofits and companies. She later married Colonel Frank Bender, with whom she spent almost 40 years. Several years after Frank's death, she met and became very close to Tony Rexrode until entering an assisted living facility. For the last several years of her life, she received excellent care from her loving caregivers, especially Pamela Wells and Kizzie Winfrey.

Norma is survived by her daughter, Patti Day and her husband Mark, grandson Brian Nicholson Day and his husband Andrew, granddaughter Allison Victoria Day Edwards and her husband Dustin, her sister-in-law Helen Nicholson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Norma’s life is to be conducted at four o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 30th of November in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.

Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer.
