He moved from Brownsville to Houston as a young man to pursue a career in law enforcement. He proudly served as a Texas Peace Officer for 38 years protecting the citizens of Texas.
Bert was a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan and often had friends and family over to enjoy the games with him. One of Bert's favorite weekend trips was to Delta Downs and Coushatta Casino. Bert and his wife Liz made frequent gambling fun filled trips to Las Vegas with family and friends. Bert's ultimate rest and relaxation destinations was Hawaii, Cabo San Lucas and cruising where sun and pina coladas were always on the agenda. Bert had many friends on and off the police force, but his best friend was his dog Hummer. The term man's best friend did not describe the bond that Hummer and Bert shared. They could often be found running errands or grabbing a Whataburger.
An important part of Bert's life was his charitable organization C.O.P.S. Cops Offering Pediatric Support. Bert was the founding member of C.O.P.S. providing toys, entertainment, laughs and joy to the many children. He also provided entertainment to the senior homes he visited with many officers over the years.
He was a true police officer with blue running through his veins. Believed in law and order, but also believed in second chances.
Bert is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Elizabeth Preciado and his daughter Leticia Preciado, his son Paul Michael Preciado, along with five brothers, three sisters, and four grandchildren.
Bert will be deeply missed and forever be loved!
