Nora Irma Garza, 72, departed peacefully on December 4th 2022. She was the life long partner of Jerry C. Barnes. They shared many years of partnership together. Nora was born in a little town in General Teran, N.L. She was the daughter of Fidencio Cortina Casas and Celida Reyes de Cortina and was raised by Regino and Irma Garza. She graduated from San Jacinto High School and pursued a few college credit courses before entering the workforce. At the beginning of her career, she worked for Alliance Steel company as a purchasing/sales representative and later went to work for Chantal Cookware Company, as an import/export broker. She proceeded to finish her career at Acts International Services, as an Office Manager and an import/export broker.
She really enjoyed traveling all over the world, experiencing new cultures, and shopping, but most importantly, she loved spending time with her daughter, Ana and her extended family. She will be remembered by her generous, compassionate and light-hearted personality. She is survived by her life long partner, Jerry C. Barnes, her daughter, Ana Angelica Teodoro, her 7 siblings: Imelda Cortina de Martinez, Humberto Cortina Reyes, Mirthala Cortina Reyes, Oralia Cortina de Hernández, Fabiola Cortina de Cantu, Jaime Cortina Reyes, Fidencio Cortina Reyes Jr., her mother Celida Reyes, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Preceding her death were her parents Irma and Regino Garza, Fidencio Cortina Casas and her brother, Americo Cortina Reyes.
Visitation will be from 5-8PM on Thursday December 15th at Pat H Foley
Funeral services will be at 11AM at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church.
She will be greatly missed by her loving family and always remembered in their hearts.
A special thank you to her daughter, Ana Angelica Teodoro, her niece Isabel Martinez and her life-long partner, Jerry C. Barnes for being her caretakers. We are sincerely grateful to the many friends who have given us support and comfort during this time of loss.
