Noah Stephen “Steve” Moore, Jr. entered into Heaven on Thursday, the 15th of August 2013, after a brief illness. He was born on the 10th of July 1947, to Noah Stephen Moore, Sr. and Marilyn Jo Prince Moore in Birmingham, Alabama. His family moved to Houston in 1953, and this is where his home would be for the rest of his life.
He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1965 and from Texas Tech University in 1971, with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. He began his career in the insurance business with AIG and then worked with CIGNA, Wetzel, TIU, Marsh, and currently Alliant. Steve was widely recognized and very well known & respected in the industry as an expert in his field of placing high risk coverage, primarily for companies in various sections of the energy business. Steve was also a well liked and respected mentor to his younger colleagues.
His children were his pride and joy and he was very involved in their activities while they grew up, from helping to construct robots in the garage to Little League Baseball, where he was known as “Coach Moore” to many great kids and their parents. Steve also served as umpire in the league for a period. He is very proud of the fact Preston and Keely chose to attend his alumna mater – Texas Tech.
Steve was an athlete, having played all sports while growing up and he became an avid golfer at a young age. His love of golf took him to many golf courses around the world where he met many friends, some of which became lifetime cronies. Brae-Burn Country Club has been his home away from home for the last 26 years. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and anything outdoors where time could be spent with his family and buddies. Steve never forgot a face or a name throughout his lifetime, be it someone he played sports against in high school, or a pro athlete he saw on television.
Steve is predeceased by his father Steve Moore, Sr. and his Aunt Bettye. He leaves to forever cherish his memory his mother, Jo; wife, Lorna; son, Preston; daughter, Keely; stepson, David Bangard and his children, Kalee, Seth & Corin; sister, Lyn Livingston and her husband Jamie; niece, Ann Hynecek and her husband Bryan & son Cooper; nephew, Lee Livingston and his wife Annie; also his Aunt Mary Ann and Uncle Billy.
We will all miss his stories and the way he always kept us entertained. Steve is now happily teeing off with his dad, Steve Sr., in Heaven. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend to many. We will all miss him.
Friends are cordially invited to gather with the family and share remembrances of Steve from six until eight in the evening on Tuesday, the 20th of August, at Brae-Burn Country Club, 8101 Bissonnet Street in Houston.
