Noah Paul Goolsby, 92, entered into eternal rest on May 28, 2018 at 11:52 pm, Memorial Day in Houston, Texas. He was born March 2, 1926 in Grapeland, Texas. Bro. Goolsby is preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas Goolsby and Laura Bell Goolsby; and 6 sisters. Left to cherish his memory, loving wife of 69 years: Willie Oletha Goolsby; children: David Goolsby & wife Nora, John Goolsby & wife Sandy, Noah Goolsby & wife Debbie, Samuel Goolsby & wife Dini, Martha Moren & husband Jerry; siblings: James, Minnie, and Ruth; 18 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and dozens of nieces and nephews.
Bro. Goolsby attended and was a faithful member of Gospel Assembly Church in Humble, Texas since 1947. He loved the usher department and served as the Head Usher in the 1950s and 1960s. Bro. Goolsby married the love of his life Willie Oletha May 16, 1949 in Texarkana, Texas. The couple later moved to Houston, Texas where they would raise their children. Bro. Goolsby worked in the Military Transport from 1945-1947. He was contracted by the US Navy where he sailed and crossed the Pacific Ocean 12 times. Later on he retired from the Port of Houston in 1985, but kept working after that in Sales of various products and companies. Even with only a 6th grade education, he took college courses online in 1980. Bro. Goolsby loved computers and he always loved the Word of God.
Visitation for family and friends will begin on Friday, June 1st from 6pm-8pm. Funeral services beginning promptly at 3pm on Saturday, June 2nd. Both services will be held at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Fwy. Houston, Texas 77039. Interment to follow in Brookside Memorial Park immediately after the funeral service. Dinner will be served at Porter Gospel Assembly Church, 22080 Spear Rd. Porter, Texas 77365.
