Nicholas Jeff Vamvakias

Nicholas Z. Vamvakias, 87, fell asleep into the Lord's care on April 10, 2016. Nicks long Air Force career of 24 years spanning the Korean Conflict, Vietnam, and the Cold wars. His assignments included SAC, Weather Service and Military Airlift Command. Nick was involved in skeet shooting and shot with the championship USAF team. His interest in Model A’s led to the restoration of two Model A Fords. Nick is preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara of 62 years, and his sons Paul and Jeffery. Nick leaves to cherish his memories, sons: Gary, Mark, Bryan and Byron, brothers: Jim, Plutarch, and Chris. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and loving family. Visitation will be at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home Friday, April 15, 2016 from 5pm to 9pm, with a Trigagon service at 7pm. Funeral service will be held at St. Basil's Greek Orthodox Church, 1100 Eldridge Parkway, 77077 on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 10:30am. Interment will follow funeral service at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers make donations to St. Basil's Greek Orthodox Church.
