Nettie Lou Butler, affectionately known as "Nett" or "Aunt Nett" to us, was born June 24, 1930, to Alfred and Nannie McGilbray in Midway, Texas. Out of their beautiful union she was one of eight children, six of whom preceded her in death. Growing up in a Christian home, Nettie attended and was baptized at Antioch church of Christ in Midway, Texas. She graduated from Albert Lee School and shortly after she moved to Houston, Texas. When she moved to Houston she started attending Fifth Ward Church of Christ. Nettie met a handsome beau named Robert J. Butler. Soon thereafter they started a courtship and shortly thereafter they became a union and started a life together in Kashmere Gardens. Their beautiful union lasted for 58 wonderful years. Nettie, WilAlfred, Laura, Mattie, and other family members were part of the founding foundation of establishing Kashmere Gardens Church of Christ. Nettie worked and retired from Continental Airlines. In her later years she was a health provider. Nettie loved to cook and bake and entertain company, whether it was with family, or close friends. While on her Christian journey she also attended Darien Loop Church of Christ, where her brother WilAlfred McGilbray was the minister. Nettie was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings; Alfred and Nannie McGilbray, her sister Jennie Lee McGilbray, her sister Anna Laura Hubbard, her brother WilAlfred McGilbray (Bessie), WilAlfred McGilbray (Elmira), Sarah "Estelle" Williams (Snell), and Fred McGilbray (Mattie). She leaves to cherish her sister Mattie Young (Richard) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
