Nellie Grace Nix

Nellie and George married in June 1951 and during their children's early years she enjoyed raising her family while being a homemaker in Onalaska, Texas. When the children were older, she began working for North Central Oil for many years until she retired in February 1992. After George’s passing in April 2000, she began traveling with her friends and family to places such as Las Vegas, Hawaii, and a cruise to the Caribbean. She enjoyed morning coffee with her neighbors, the theater, puzzles, bingo, poker and dominoes.

Nellie was preceded in death by her husband of almost 49 years, George R. Nix; parents, Solomon and Maggie; daughter, Karen Nix; son, George Nix Jr.; grandson, Wayne Nix; sister, Vivian Williams; and brothers, Charles Williams and James Williams.

She is survived by her children, Kenneth Nix, Russell Nix & wife Diane, Melisa Black & husband Robert Jr.; grandchildren, Kenna Cole & husband William, Aaron Nix & wife Katie, Mackenzie Camacho & husband Justin, Addie Nix, Tristan Nix, Julian Gillespie-Gallardo, Ryan Nix, Jordan Latrache & Christopher Benton, Robert Black III, Savana Black & Jason Eberly; great-grandchildren, Chase Cole, Peyton Cole, Isabella Cole, Kaleb Nix, Wyatt Butler, Juliette Nix, Dominic Nix, Josie Rehmatullah, Christopher Benton Jr., Christina Benton; and sister, LenaBelle Givens.

A visitation for Nellie will be held Friday, February 10, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will occur Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A burial to follow at Brookside Memorial Park.
