NAOMI COLLINS OWEN passed away peacefully December 29, 2015. Born October 23, 1920 in Tennessee Colony, TX, the daughter of Arabella & Henry Collins, Naomi lived the last 70 years of her life in Houston. She married the love of her life, Eugene C. Owen, on May 23, 1942, and had 5 children.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and wonderful grandmother affectionately known as "Nana". She was also a woman of character, faith, style, and substance. A faithful member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church for 47 years, Naomi sang in the Chancel Choir and was a member of the Wedding Band Sunday School class. She will be forever loved and missed by all that knew her.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of The Hallmark for their exceptional care of Naomi over the last 7 years.
Naomi is preceded in death by her husband Gene and daughter Charlotte. She is survived by her daughter Cindy and 3 sons: Steve & wife Susan, David, and Mark & wife Sonia. Naomi had 11 grandchildren: Steve Owen, Jr., Libby Koch, Molly Owen Soper & husband Steven, Amy Koch, Sam Owen & wife Katie, Emily Owen Owens & husband Jordan, Sara Owen, Jordan McFarland, Will Owen, Thomas Owen, and Benjamin Owen. She had 2 great-grandchildren, Mary & Sally Soper.
A Memorial Service will honor Naomi at 3pm, Friday, January 8th, 2016, at Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay. A private burial will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016, in Tennessee Colony, TX, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband and daughter. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Chapelwood Foundation, 11140 Greenbay, Houston, TX 77024.
