

Naomi Shiflett Coulter was born on July 16, 1927 to George Washington and Nola Wiggins Shiflett in Weldon, Texas. Naomi passed peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the age of 83 years in Houston, Texas.
Naomi was a loyal employee of Daniel Industries for over 30 years, and a selfless volunteer at Spring Branch Hospital for over 20 years, donating over 5,000 hours of her time to help and comfort the sick and their loved ones. Naomi was a devoted member of Tallowood Baptist Church, a true patriot, and a beloved mother of four children, whom she raised on her own.
Naomi is preceded in death by her son Steven Brent Coulter; her parents; her brothers Virgil, Marvin (“Panama”), and Willie (“Cooney”); and her sisters Mary, Hazel, Clois, and Opal. She is survived by her daughter Pamela Jean Grube; her son Gregory Ellis Coulter and wife Kathryn; her son Michael Paul Coulter and wife Christine; her grandchildren Jasmine Bransford and husband Colter, Michael Paul Coulter, II, Kathlyn Curtis and husband Nicholas, Caroline Romano and husband Matthew, John Stanley Grube, III, Aaron Ellis Coulter and wife Emily; her great-grandchildren Anne, Emma, and Eleanor; her sister Ella Mae; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Naomi’s family would like for you to join them at her visitation on Monday, March 21st at five o’clock in the afternoon until eight o’clock in the evening at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. A service celebrating her life and committing her to God will be held on Tuesday, March 22nd at Tallowood Baptist Church, 555 Tallowood, Houston, TX, with Dr. Duane Brooks presiding, followed by internment at Memorial Oaks Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Vitas Hospice at Memorial Hermann Hospital.
