Nancy Bard Heins, 79, died January 6, 2012 in Houston, Texas. She was born at Baptist Memorial Hospital August 19, 1932 in Houston, Texas. Nancy was raised in the Heights and graduated from John H. Reagan High School. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church on December 5, 1932 and attended Trinity Lutheran School, graduating on June 2, 1946. After meeting a small town “farm boy” at Walther League Socials, the “city girl” was married to Alvin Edward Heins on November 3, 1950. They enjoyed 35 years of marriage until Alvin’s death on July 22, 1991. Nancy was very active in Trinity Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran School during her life, serving the Lord in numerous volunteer and organizational offices. To the glory of God, Trinity was “home” for Nancy with all her friends and family. After raising her family and the death of Alvin, she worked for many years in the retail clothing business.
Nancy is survived by her son, Marshall Bard Heins and wife, Shary; daughter, Janet Smith; grandchildren, Rachel Elizabeth Heins, Katelynn Jane Heins, and Marshall Bard Heins II, along with a host of family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 800 Houston Ave., Houston, Texas 77007, where the funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Houston, Texas.
