My great aunt Nancy married my grandmother Dora’s brother Reynaldo. So, most of my memories of her are from a long time ago when I was young, and our families got together for the many occasions that normally bring families together. This being back before our families expanded to where my siblings and cousins now have their own families and the older extended family became more distant. However, there were still times when we would get to see Tia Nancy and Tio Ray. They like the rest of my family were so kind and giving. I have heard Tia Nancy and Tio Ray described as “classy”, which is spot on. In my visional memories I see them impeccably dressed, it was as if they were perpetually on the way to attend someone’s wedding. 
Then there is their daughter Sylvia. My memories of Sylvia are of someone that seemed to stand out in a way that was different than what I was familiar with when I was young. I noticed that she was radiant, aware, outgoing, and adventurous, especially in contradiction to me. As a child I rarely talked or asked questions, I was always listening and observing. I assume the adventurous impression came from Sylvia being in the military, the Air Force I believe. At that age for me that was the equivalent of meeting someone from another world, I just could not imagine or really understand. I knew that she had children but do not recall meeting them until many years had passed and I attended Tio Ray’s funeral. Sylvia’s daughter gave the most wonderful uplifting eulogy that I have ever heard. Hearing her speak about her grandparents brought our lives back together again. The love their family has for each other is inspiring. I wish them all well, all of you have brought happiness to many people.


I have so many wonderful memories of our time together.  Nancy would definitely be one of my all time favorites.  She was always infinitely grateful no matter how small a thing you gave her from a cookie to tucking her in at night always made me feel infinitely appreciated. So funny, proper, and thankful. Full of warmth and joy even on her darkest days with  aches and pains she would make me smile somehow. Though her memory faded  with time Nancy never forgot her beloved husband Ray or her daughter Sylvia or especially her grandchildren she loved greatly. Most nights she would regale me with stories of her life and family. And though fighting Alzheimer's  still she had a wisdom at times that was unparalleled.  I remember her talking about the Great Depression, she'd say "we were as poor as church mice but it was the happiest time of our life".  She had the gift of being steadfast and yet as silly as a child at play. I only knew her in her 90s but I am grateful for every moment we shared, and all she taught me if even in practice. A saint of a woman and a lady amongst girls, she is a light that shines on to brighten our way through the darkness. I pray we meet again that I may get to meet her fulfilled and whole as I'm sure she is. I will miss Nancy until then but as she would say "such is life". My deepest sympathies too all of her family that you will always cherish her memory and be blessed to have a piece of her live on through you.

Aunt Nancy was like a second Mother to my brother Robert and me.  Along with our Mother and her siblings she was raised with very strong religious and social values. She and Uncle Ray were respected by many of their peers and I believe they were both leaders within the family and with their friends. I had the utmost respect for both of them and truly believed they both wanted the best for their family.  God Bless my Aunt Nancy as she joins my Uncle Ray in Heaven. And God Bless all of her family.

I see Tia dancing with Tio Ray to Frank Sinatra, as Sylvia said that was the music she had been playing  the morning she went on to her eternal reward, as also Praise and Worship songs were played right before!

She had just turned 101 years young on March 18th! 🙏🏻


What a gift she was to us all, for we all felt so loved and special as Tia Nancy spoke to us, individually, like we were the only one in the room.  She was so elegant and classy.  She always reminded me of Audrey Hepburn, so vibrant and charismatic!

May her soul Rest In Peace!

Dear cousin Sylvia, you are an inspiration to us all, as a loving, gentle and loyal daughter to your dear sweet parents, Tio Ray and Tia Nancy!  
You are a good and faithful daughter of whom I am certain God and his awesome son Jesus, accompanied and guided you!  

I invite you all, please pray with us (privately together as a family in your own home)  for the next 40 days ahead at 8:30 pm nightly as we recite the Rosary with Mother Angelic on EWTN (found on cable tv, online or on the app).

We ask God's help and mercy to find a vaccine cure for the deadly Covid19 virus,   together in global unity with our brothers and sisters throughout the world, and pray for those souls who have succumbed to the deadly virus.

We also want to pray to give thanks for Tia Nancy's life and to celebrate her life eternal as she joins our ancestors in Heaven!

  "Eternal rest grant unto Tia Nancy and those who have succumbed to the virus,  O Lord and let perpetual help shine upon them.

May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.”

I am Sylvia Maria Flores. I’m the daughter of the most wonderful ,beautiful, peaceful mom whom everyone called Grandma.
All my mom wanted was that we all lived in peace and love. Mom wanted me to feel happy with myself.  Mom taught me to face life with grace and kindness knowing that wherever I was God was at my side. I never had siblings because she believed that she could be everything to me. She taught me how to be a strong woman.  Thought she physically is not with me I believe that my mom is still at my side and now my dad is on the other side walking with me.  May the peace ☮️ of the Lord be at her side because my mom did all that she could to make a beautiful life for all of us.
God bless you my fabulous mom. Rest in the name of our Father God that your work on earth 🌍 was accomplished with Grace.  Job well done mom.  I love you mom. Hallelujah because you are home now.

I have many memories of my Great Aunt Nancy. I remember her and my Great Uncle Ray picking me up from kindergarten and taking me to the zoo. I remember her jumping up and grabbing candy from a pinata that had just been opened and my cousin David's birthday party. I also remember her walking through the halls of my high school to come find me to pick me up after school and watching big football and baseball players move out of her way. She was definitely a presence in our family and she will be missed. But she will also always be loved.
