It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved father, Munir George Barakat, of Missouri City, Texas who left us on September 23,2024 at the age of 87. Surrounded by his loving family and friends in his final moments, he was a man of immerse humor and wisdom, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones.
He loved entertaining his friends, neighbors, and family and his personality was contagious to all. He loved gambling, spending time with his grandchildren, and traveling. He is survived by his loving wife, Sumaya, children, Sandy (Virgil) Spies, Julie Barakat, Amal (Steve) Kelly, Sanaa (Joe) Holt, George (Abier) Barakat, Sisters, Laila Massis, Nahida Sirhan, Basemeh Mazer, Teresa Pacer, grandchildren, Rylee Holt, Seth Spies, Grace Kelly, Hope Kelly, Marc Barakat, and Madeline Barakat. He is preceded in death by his father, George Michel Barakat, mother, Badia Barakat, brother, Michel Barakat, sister Georgette Sirhan.
A visitation will be held Thursday, October 3,2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home 12800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77077 followed by a rosary service from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral mass will occur Friday, October 4,2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Laurence Catholic Church, 3100 Sweetwater Blvd, Sugar Land, TX, followed by a committal service at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer, Houston, TX.
