Beatrice Stubbs McDonald began the life of a blessed woman of God on February 7, 1917 in Houston, Texas. Her parents Reverend J. E. and Ellen Stubbs received their blessing and were dedicated to rearing her in a loving Christian home. Along with her parents, brothers Roy Stubbs and Wilbert Stubbs preceded her in death. Beatrice attended public school in the Houston Independent School District. She was a proud alumnus of Booker T. Washington Senior High School, Class of 1934. She received Christ in her early years and joined Brown Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church where her membership has tenure; and her devotion remained until her demise. This Spring 2015, "Sis. Bea Mac" as she was affectionately called was awarded the "Oldest Member Certificate" which gave her great joy, and made her smile! Her passion to faithfully serve the Lord awarded her many leadership positions,--the Mary Brown Women Missionary Society President, Adult Choir Member, Youth Teacher, Sunday School Teacher, and Girl Scout Leader. Most admirably and enjoyable for her was her service as an Officer for the Texas Conference as a result of her 50 year affiliation with the Stewardess Board. In 1937, Beatrice married the love of her life, John R. McDonald. God was not through blessing them by any means, and as a result 5 wonderful children were born: John Randall, Joseph "Joe" Stubbs, Sandra B., Mary and Ellen. Together they raised their children in a devoted God-fearing home, always enjoying and supporting family as family. Mama's encouraging words, Godly influence, and love for each other was forever imparted as "McDonald Family Values." Mr. and Mrs. McDonald shared 47 wonderful years of marriage until John's demise in 1984. "Mrs. Bea", as she was known throughout the Heights Community made a positive impact with countless endeavors. Notably, she served in her children's schools a PTA Member and Treasurer, and as a member of the Houston Heights Progressive Civic Club. Willingly, she shared her talents as a Master Seamstress by hosting and instructing Adult Sewing Classes in the neighborhood. During her seasoned years, Mrs. McDonald relocated to San Antonio, Texas anticipating with excitement supporting her daughter Ellen and Son-in-law Reverend Chuma Okoli in his newly appointed Pastoral Stewardship at Emmanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church. She supported this ministry, and attended faithfully mostly every Sunday. As her health declined and Reverend Okoli's assignment in San Antonio ended, his new assignment allowed them to re-position back home to Houston, Texas. Sandra, Mary and Ellen along with their husbands, are to be commended for always sharing in the best possible daily provisions to ensure Mama was always cared for, and knew she was loved! On October 20, at 11:04pm, Mrs. Beatrice McDonald transitioned and her spirit was received into the bosom of her heavenly Father. Her earthly assignment had been completed. God was ready...and she was too! Sons John Randall McDonald and Joseph "Joe" Stubbs McDonald, preceded their mother in death. She leaves in God's Care, her children; Sandra Williams, Mary (Omar) Lindsey, Ellen (Rev. Chuma) Okoli, daughter-in-law; Debbie (John) McDonald, grandchildren; Cassandra Stewart, Kenneth (Zandra) McDonald, Rosondra (Abron) Brown, Danielle McDonald, Ian (Arleshia) Okoli, Criston (Jasmine) Okoli, and Crystal Okoli, great grandchildren; Amber (Austin) Wilkins, Keosha McDonald, Keshauna McDonald and Kayla McDonald, Caitlyn Molden, Sydney Brown and Abron Brown; and numerous relatives and friends.
