On July 29, 1941 a baby boy was born to Charles and Lucille Fields in Huntington, West Virginia. These proud parents named their son Leonard Wallace Fields. Leonard received his education in the local school district where he attended Clark Elementary, Whitter Junior High School and Lima Senior High School. In 1959, he enlisted in the United States Navy. After serving in the military, Leonard began his career in the trucking industry. He was employed by East Texas Distributors for 20 plus years before retiring, and becoming self-employed with Venture Incorporation. Leonard was an avid sportsman who enjoyed football, basketball and boxing. His love for taking road trips across the country only rivalled his love for fishing. Leonard was an active member of the Quality Time Fishing Club. In the year 1992, Leonard met Sybil Vanice Smith. They were married on August 18, 1993 and remained so for 22 years. His church affiliations included First Trinity Baptist Church in Flint, Michigan, St. Paul AME in Lima, Ohio and Community of Faith. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Franklin Fields. He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife, Sybil Fields; one sister, Dora Robinson (James) of Columbia, Maryland; One brother, Charles Fields (Gwen) of Flushing, Michigan; three sons, Darville, Leonard Franklin and Mack; three daughters, Natalie, Nicole and Cynthia; seventeen grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
