Minerva Morena Reyna, age 86, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. She was born on December 17, 1938, in Sugar Land, Texas, to Rosa and Pedro Moreno.
Minerva earned her degree in theology from Logos Bible College, reflecting her lifelong passion for ministry and bringing people closer to God. Her journey in faith began early, and she devoted more than five decades to preaching and serving in churches, with her final and most cherished pastoral role at Iglesia El Paraiso, where she ministered for 52 years. She was a proud member of U.P.L.C.I. and was known for her powerful sermons, compassionate heart, and steadfast commitment to spiritual leadership.
Minerva’s love story began in Houston’s 5th Ward, where Robert J. Reyna saw her through a window and instantly fell in love. The two were married on February 7, 1955, and together built a beautiful life grounded in love, laughter, and faith. Robert preceded her in death on July 4, 2012, but the love they shared remains an inspiration to all who knew them.
Minerva was a woman of many passions. She found joy in reading her Bible—especially Psalm 91—praying, cooking delicious meals, and spending time with her loved ones. She also had a flair for fashion and was known for her love of shopping, perfume, jewelry, and thrifting. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the irresistible aromas of home-cooked meals—no one ever left hungry or without a smile.
Above all, Minerva cherished her family. She loved hosting gatherings and making sure everyone felt welcome and cared for. Her life was a reflection of the values she preached: love, kindness, generosity, and unshakable faith.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert J. Reyna; her parents, Rosa and Pedro Moreno; her siblings, Rachel Espinosa, Pedro Moreno Jr., Carlos Moreno, and Ruben Moreno; and her grandsons, Richard Reyna Jr., David DeLeon Jr., and Moises Perales Jr.
She is survived by her sister, Rosie Sanchez; her aunt, Lupe Kennedy; and her children: Robert J. Reyna Jr. and his wife, Julie; Richard Reyna and his wife, Gracie; Roxanne DeLeon and her husband, David; Michael Reyna; Lionel Reyna and his wife, Lisa; Andy Martinez and his wife, Vonda; Cynthia Velasquez and her husband, Rudy; Jerome Espinosa; Michelle Valle and her husband, Ernest; and Jackie Garibay and her husband, Cesar. She was also dearly loved by her 22 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Minerva’s light will continue to shine through the lives of those she touched. Her legacy of faith, love, and generosity will forever remain in the hearts of her family, her church, and the countless individuals she inspired throughout her life.
