Mildred Mary Herman, age 76, passed away Thursday, May 01, 2014, in her home with her husband and her 8 children by her side after a long battle with cancer. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and cherished friend to many. Mildred was devoted to her life long catholic religion which guided her throughout her life. She spent many a day tending to her flower beds, and loved to watch things grow. Mildred was quite fond of the birds that would visit each day and had an even more special place in her heart for her red birds. She enjoyed cooking and having her family at her home with an occasional polka song playing. When family and friends visited her home, she always made everyone feel wanted and welcome.
Mildred is preceded in death by her parents Julius and Lenora Morisak, and brothers Joe and David ( Black) . She is survived by the love of her life Henry through marriage for more than 59 years, and her eight children: Debbie Herman Madison and husband Eugene, Gary Herman and wife Sandra, Dwayne Herman and wife Beth, Stephen Herman and wife Eva, Darlene Clark and husband Charles, Mark Herman and wife Missy, Tim Herman, and Laura Heaton and husband Alfred. She has a total of 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, Nana as she was known loved each of them dearly; also survived by sister, Donna Shedd; brother, Gilbert Morisak and wife Carol; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her family was one of the most important aspects of her life and this was evident by her interactions with all her children. She was the matriarch of the family and will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 5, 2014 in the Chapel of Earthman Resthaven. Interment will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery. Pallbearers – Gary Herman, Dwayne Herman, Steve Herman, Mark Herman, and Tim Herman. Honorary Pallbearers – Eugene Madison, Charles Clark, and Alfred Heaton.
