Mike A. Valdez passed away at 6:00am on Monday, March 15, 2021, at the age of 84. He was born in Munday, Texas in 1936. Mike was born to and was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Margarita Valdez.
Mike also was preceded in death by his wife, Mary G. Valdez of forty-three years, his daughter, Janette Valdez; his sisters, Petra Gonzalez and Pabla Silva; two brothers, Ignacio Valdez and Jessie Valdez; two grandchildren, Rudy Perez Jr., and ShaAnn Valdez. He leaves behind his children: Gloria Perez, Josie Perez, Elizabeth Sandoval, Deborah Conner, Mike Valdez, Rev. Joe Valdez, and Philip Valdez, along with his siblings, Esther Ballew, Mary Baker, Louis Valdez, Pete Valdez, and Daniel Valdez.
Mike was blessed with twenty-five grandchildren and thirty-five great-grandchildren, with a host of nieces and nephews which loved him very much.
Mike was not just a father to his children but acted as a father-figure to several of his grandchildren which he came to adore as his own. He was a man with much love, laughter, always with a joke, and loved to sing. He will be greatly missed by so many.
He was a hard worker all his life and always made sure that his children and family had everything they needed. He was a retired Grade A welder for over fifty years. He always showed passion and perfection in his craft. He would always say: “If it’s not done right, do it again until it’s right.” He showed his family the love of God and always taught us the way of the Lord. Dad may not have continually been perfect in some ways, but he always had a word of wisdom to correct any problem. He was always Daddy to us all.
We love you Dad, and you will eternally be in our hearts.
