Michael Samuel Whitaker, Sr

On October 24, 1951, a baby boy was born to Ms. Winifred S. Garner and Mr. Sammie B. Whitaker, whom they named Michael S. Whitaker. Michael was born in the Houston, Texas area where he later graduated Jack Yates High School; Michael was a proud graduate and he loved being an Alumni of Jack Yates; he later attended Texas Southern University. On December 28, 1970, Michael married his beloved sweetheart Brenda Diane Tucker and to this union five children were born; Winifred Whitaker, MoNessa Minger, Michael Samuel Whitaker Jr. Von-Leon Whitaker, Quiana Whitaker-Jackson. Michael lived in the Houston, Texas area up until his demise and upon his departure he believed that God was his Lord and Savior, and he attended church regularly where he was a member of St. James Baptist Church. Michael leaves to cherish his memories a loving daughter MoNessa Minger of Katy, Texas who dearly loved him, and his ex-wife Brenda Dianne Johnson and three additional children Michael Samuel Whitaker Jr(Kim)., Von-Leon Whitaker(Kechia), and Quiana Whitaker-Jackson(John) all of Brookshire, TX. Michael had fifteen grandchildren and a host of family and friends who will dearly miss him. He is preceded in death by his daughter Winifred Whitaker and both his mother and father as well as his brother and long-time friend Mr. Thurston Hall, along with his adoptive parents Big Mama and Bubba.
