Michael Wayne Nordstrom

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Wayne Nordstrom, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He passed peacefully on October 31, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family, joining his dear wife, Linda Nordstrom, who preceded him in death. Michael and Linda shared 50 beautiful years of marriage and now rest together in eternal peace.

Michael is survived by his loving children, James Roy Kahlig and Belinda Nordstrom, both of Alief, Texas. His legacy lives on through his four cherished grandchildren, James Dylan, Meagan Janeece, Rylan Russell, and Brayden Allen. His three great-grandchildren, Reid Joseph Michael, Avery Allena and Michael Van Allen. He also leaves his best friend and fiercely loyal companion Moo Moo.

Michael Wayne began his life in the small town of Vidor, Texas, on October 3, 1951. He would later make Houston his home for over 40 years. Mr. Mike or Uncle Mike as he was affectionately known, was a part of the foundation of his community. He possessed a remarkable ability to connect with people and never met a stranger. His warm and welcoming spirit endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

One of Mike's most defining qualities was his unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Whether it was a friendly smile, a comforting word, or a gesture of support, he was always there to offer his assistance. He believed in the power of kindness and showed us all the value of compassion and selflessness.

As we remember Michael Wayne Nordstrom, we are reminded of the profound impact he had on the lives of those around him. His legacy is one of love, kindness, family and a commitment to making the world a better place. While he may no longer be with us in person, his legacy lives on through every life he touched and the lessons he taught us.

Michael Wayne Nordstrom's visitation will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Garden Oaks Funeral Home, 13430 Bellaire Boulevard, Houston, Texas 77083. A home going celebration will occur Friday, November 17, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, at 13430 Bellaire Blvd, Houston, Texas 77083. A committal service will occur Friday, November 17, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077.
