A native Houstonian, Michael is a graduate of Mount Carmel High School (1971) and the University of Houston. He was committed to a life of service and the arts. Michael appeared in a multitude of community theater roles across southeast Texas from the 1980s until late 2019, both on stage and directing. His professional life included disc jockey, paralegal, newspaper distributor, but most rewarding, as a public school special education teacher in Humble and North Shore. Michael retired from Humble Middle School in 2012.
Locally, Michael volunteered with the Boy Scouts and the City of Humble Citizens Police Academy. He was an active member of the Humble Area Retired Teachers Association. Michael was a lifelong fan of Elvis, Roy Rogers, and Texas history.
A devoted dad and proud grandfather, Michael is survived by his wife Judy, son Geoffrey Hellauer Geiger (Abby), granddaughter Poppy, brother Gene (Sue), sisters Helen Pullen (Gus), Mary Jane Sartwelle (Bill), JoAnn Fonte (Ken), Joan Marie Weber (Jacke) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Eugene and Marguerite Geiger.
The family extends special thanks to many friends, neighbors, and to the caregivers at Houston Hospice.
A visitation for Michael will be held Monday, February 13, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 2:00 PM.
