Those who knew Michael knew he loved his family and friends dearly. He was charming, kind, and sensitive. His delightful smile could light up a single room all on its own. At times, it was difficult for him to show his true feelings. However, when you really looked at his striking brown eyes you could see into his soul and you knew what he was feeling without even a single word spoken. His special qualities will not be forgotten. He adored his two precious nieces and handsome nephew. They thought he hung the moon. The tenderness and love he showed them will live on in them forever. Uncle Mike was awesome!
Michael was an avid fisherman. To him fishing was medicinal. He was meticulous about knowing where the good fishing spots were and what the weather was going to be like for that day. He wouldn’t let anything keep him from trying to catch the “BIG” one when he was ready to go! He was also a very passionate race fan. His idol was none other than “JOHN FORCE!” Jeff Gordon was a favorite of his on the NASCAR circuit. Mike enjoyed working on cars, bikes, motorcycles, etc. You name it he could take something apart and rebuild it back the same way. Maybe even better! His painstaking eye for detail made whatever he was working on much more impressive and worth the time he spent getting it that way.
Here is another detail about Mike’s life. Dave Shade Jr. was Michael’s longtime childhood friend; along with many others. After Lil Dave’s dirt bike accident, Michael dedicated his time and support to helping Big Dave and his family adjust to their new challenges of taking care of a quadriplegic. He assisted in renovating their Texas City home to accommodate Dave’s special needs and make it a permanent residence for the Shade’s to enjoy. He took great pride in knowing that their lives were made easier just by him lending a hand when needed. The Shade’s have opened their home and hearts to Michael on countless occasions. He was considered a member of their family; as they are considered the same with Mike’s family. The bond that was forged between these two families will never be broken not even by the loss of Michael. Actually, it grew even stronger!
There aren’t enough words or paper available for us to convey how extraordinary Michael was and how many lives were enhanced just by having him in them. He will live on in our memories, our hearts and most of all our souls.
Most importantly, thank you God for blessing our lives in such a way that Michael Christian did. You truly are an awesome God!
