Mike was born on October 16, 1955 to Allie Branham and Vernell Fryerson in Tacoma, WA. He graduated school in Cleveland, OH before joining the Navy. While in the Navy as a mechanic, he traveled the world, most notably spending time in the Philippines, Australia, and Hawaii before returning home and falling in love with Denise J. Pierce. They married in Cleveland, but soon relocated to Houston to avoid living in the cold weather.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Denise, and his children, Melissa Branham of Los Angeles, CA, Dedra Branham (and husband Daniel Fate, Sr.) of San Antonio, TX, and Michael Branham Jr. (and husband Aaron McAllister) of Houston, TX. Mike was always very proud of his grandsons, Seamus Branham, Samonte Jennings, and Daniel Fate Jr.. Mike is also survived by his sisters, Mira Branham, Brenda Cross, and Janis Davis. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Cheryl and Alice.
Mike worked as a mechanic his entire life and was always good with his hands. Mike enjoyed figuring out how things worked and could spend hours tinkering with something. Mike was passionate about sports, particularly the Houston Rockets, and his hometown team, the Cleveland Browns. Mike also enjoyed trying new whiskeys with his son. Mike took great pride in his children, striving always to be a good father – and he absolutely succeeded.
It is an understatement to say that the world has lost a great man, father, husband, brother, grandfather, and friend. Mike was a big man with a big heart and loved everyone and was loved by everyone.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you spend time with your loved ones, because tomorrow is never promised.
