Mercedes “Meche” Reyes, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, was born February 3, 1930 in Alice, Texas. She went to be with the Lord on March 17, 2024 in Brush, Colorado at the age of 94.
She was preceded in death by her parents Dolores and Pascual Castillo, brothers, Jesus Castillo, Celedonio Castillo, Gabino Castillo and Miguel Castillo. She is survived by her son David (Rebecca) Presas, her daughter, Irma (Joseph) Baumberger, her son Albert (Gracie) Presas; grandchildren David Z. (Jennifer) Presas, Patricia Presas, Christina B. (Matthew) Harris, Denise P. (Shehzaib) Siddiqui, Anne P. (Dan) Breslau, Sarah P. (Jimmy) Harris; Great grandchildren James P. Resendez, Layla Presas, Kinsley Presas, Dominique Butler, S’ynae-Symone Butler, Cassidy Breslau, Archer Harris, Genevieve Harris, Philomena Harris, Susanna Harris, William Harris, Vincent Harris, Robert Harris, Benedict Harris, Imelda Mercedes Harris, Abeelah Z. Siddiqui, Azlan Z. Siddiqui.
Meche retired from Sheltering Arms Senior Services where she worked as a provider for the elderly, dedicating her time to help those who needed help the most. Her passions included her faith in Jesus Christ, spending quality time with her family, playing with her great grandkids, sewing, making the best tamales in town, gardening, an occasional trip to the casino, her pets, and traveling with her best friend “Lydia”. She will be deeply missed.
