Melva "LaVerne" Davis ,91, of Houston went to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 24, 2011. She was born January 9, 1920 in Lovelady, TX to Tobe and Eliza Keys. LaVerne is preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years Ollie Davis; daughter, Janice Davis; son, Howard "Lynn" Davis; grandson, Jeffrey McCormick. LaVerne is survived by her loving daughter, Linda Cox; daughter-in-law, Ann Nance; 5 grandchildren, Todd Davis and wife Wendy, Tracy Davis, Paul Cox and wife Cynthia, Bryan Cox and wife Erica, Julie Kurihara and husband Marcus; 9 great-grandchildren, Stone, Kathryn, and Isabel Davis, Lacey, Kaitlyn, and Adam Cox, Sadey, and Avery Cox, Marlie Kurihara; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Brookside Funeral Home from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A celebration of life will be 10:00 AM Friday, May 27, 2011 at Brookside Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Brookside Memorial Park.
