Melinda Moore Owen Ramsey

Melinda Moore Owen Ramsey was born on the 30th of March 1957 to Guy Harold Owen Jr. and Freeda May Owen in Shreveport, Louisiana. She passed away in Houston, Texas on Friday, the 8th of September 2023 at 66 years of age.

Melinda is survived by her son, Ronald Reno Ramsey; her granddaughter, Nina Linda Ramsey; as well as her sisters, Yvonne Nelson and Cathie Louis.

She was loved by all and enjoyed spending time with her son and granddaughter. Some of their best memories were made travelling together, and most recently they went on a family cruise to Cozumel in the summer of 2023. Melinda was also passionate about coffee and enjoyed her almost five years working for Starbucks and making meaningful connections with many customers.

Melinda was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Alpha Sigma Chapter (Life, Learning, Friendship). She was the Woman of the Year in the city of Mobile, Alabama and then for the state of Alabama.

She performed many service projects from fundraising for battered women; holding and rocking hospitalized babies; and running programs for school children of all ages victimized by abuse. Her love for people was evident in every detail of her life.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock in the afternoon until seven o'clock in the evening on Saturday, the 16th of September, in the library and grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.

The funeral service is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Sunday, the 17th of September, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons.
