In the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 2, 2024, Maximiliano Villagomez left this earth at the age of 89. He was born on February 13, 1935 in La Hacienda de San Pedro, Generál Teran, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He was the first child born to parents, Maximiliano and Rosa Jauregui Villagomez.
As a young man, Maximiliano, affectionately known as “Chanito”, and his family arrived in the United States settling in Houston, TX. As destined, they would move in next door to the young woman who became the love of his life. They fell in love and on August 31, 1958, Chanito and Guadalupe “Lupita” were married. Together, they lovingly raised six children.
Chanito worked in various occupations from an early age helping to support his family. As a teenager, he worked at the Rice Hotel and later worked as a laborer at Houston Compress Company. In 1967, Chanito went to work as a longshoreman with the Port of Houston Authority and was an active member of ILA Local 24 until 1989.
Our Dad, “Papi” was devoted to his family, his pride and joy. He was happiest spending time with all his children, and always praying for our well-being. He leaves a legacy of love, perseverance and integrity. Our hearts are forever changed.
Chanito is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Lupita, and his sisters Rosa Maria and Graciela. Left to cherish his memory are his 6 children: Rosemary (David) Lovell, Max (Victoria) Villagomez III, Mario (Patricia) Villagomez, Teresa (Adrian) Treviño, Mark (Maria) Villagomez, Gabriel (Kimberly) Villagomez.
He will be deeply missed by his 16 grandchildren: Monica (Oscar) Marines, Johnny (Ingrid) Baldez, Nadia Baldez (Andrés Reyes), Jennifer (Michael) Lopez, Vanessa (Luis) Morales, Max (Jane) Villagomez IV, Melanie (Matthew) Puente, Adrian (Luisa) Treviño, Alyssa (Freddy) Alcantar, Catherine (Rogelio) Barrera, Elias Villagomez (Sophie Mendiola), Angel (Neville) Treviño, Michelle Villagomez (Oscar Garcia), Andrew (Amanda) Villagomez, Anthony Treviño, Matthew Villagomez.
