Max Alva Holt

Max graduated from Smiley High School. He met Carol Jean Watson at church in Houston. They were married on September 22, 1961, for over 62 years, and his princess to the very end. Max had a career with the State of Texas as an insurance auditor. His job took him all over the United States, giving him and Carol and his children a chance to travel and see the country.

Max had a passion for staying busy, engaging with and helping others. He never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. He could regularly be found tinkering with a car or at a neighbor’s house lending a hand on any needed project. His love of gardening allowed him to share vegetables with his neighbors and coworkers on a regular basis.

Max is preceded in death by his parents, Willie & Laverne Holt.

Left to cherish his memory, loving wife: Carol Holt; children: Max Holt II & wife Susan, Greg Holt & wife Angela; Dana Andrus & husband John; grandchildren: Shelby Andrus, Adam Holt, Marissa Holt, John Andrus, Schon Holt, and Lindsay Holt.

Visitation for family and friends will begin on Monday, August 5, 2024 beginning at 12pm with a graveside service to follow at 1:30pm in Brookside Memorial Park.
