Mrs. Mary L. Williams was born to the late McKinsley and Bertha Harrison in Dodge, Texas, July 15, 1931. She joined church and was baptized at an early age. After many years of living in Dodge, Texas the family moved to San Antonio, Texas where Mary attended Saint Mary Catholic School. After she completed high school the family moved to Houston,Texas. Where she fell in love and married Mr. Samuel C.Williams Sr. They both joined Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. To their marriage their family consisted of three children. Samuel Williams, Jr.,Teresa. Williams and Charles Williams. Mary was a hard working family oriented woman. She was employed at JCPenney and worked her way up to a sales manager. She had worked there for 30 years and retired in 1997. She was loved and respected by her family, friends, and co-workers. She was the type of person who was known for her patience and kind spirit as she Exemplified her Christian faith by the way she lived. She was always encouraging her children to always love the Lord and love one another. Every holiday was celebrated at mother Mary’s home and you could feel the love when you walked through the door. She would always be singing her favorite song (Pass me not oh gentle Savior). She was always available to sit and talk with anyone who needed someone to talk you. She supported her children in all their endeavors and shared wise counsel and encouraged them as well. On May 4, 2023, Mary L. Williams heard the voice of her Savior. And she went home to be with the Lord at her place of residence in Wharton,Texas where she was surrounded by her family.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Charles G. Williams, Sr. (daughter-in-law Mrs. Edna Williams), Teresa Alexander, Samuel C. Williams, Jr. Florence Williams (Hunt), and Wendell Williams; Cousins, Mary Edwards,Helen, Conway, and Frank Gamble; And her 25 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren.
A visitation for Mary will be held Friday, May 19, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2019 Crawford St., Houston, TX 77002, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
